Hosting a Corporate Training Program for Students from Shizuoka Prefectural College of Technology
ISK welcomed Y, a student from the Department of Mechanical and Control Engineering at Shizuoka Prefectural College of Technology, for a five-day corporate training program from Monday, December 1 to Friday, December 5, 2025.
During the program, Y gained hands-on experience across our 1st, 2nd, and 3rd factories, as well as our CAM department, learning about a wide range of processes involved in the manufacturing of casting molds.
The training included tours and hands-on experience with machining equipment such as horizontal machining centers and NC lathes, as well as creating NC programs using CAM software. Y also experienced various finishing and assembly processes, including assembling small components, painting, wiring, and inspecting parts, providing an opportunity to learn about the entire mold manufacturing process.
Y also had the opportunity to experience technologies unique to an actual manufacturing environment, including high-precision CNC machine tools, which differ from the conventional machine tools used at school, as well as shrink-fit tooling for securing cutting tools.
Y shared the following reflections on the training:
“By working with actual equipment on the production floor, I realized that the knowledge I have acquired so far represents only a small part of what is required in the field.”
“I strongly recognized the importance of communication and reporting, as even a small mistake by one person can lead to significant losses.”
“I realized the importance of self-management and actively asking questions, and I would like to apply what I learned to my future studies and job search.”
